Euregio 2023 – Friendship Trophy

Our JSC crew that attended the 2023 Euregio broke with convention and awarded the trophy to the owner of a vat, rather than an individual fish. Our crew was Kieron Burns & Gary Hillier.The owner of the vat was Filip Poppe a well-known Belgian exhibitor who has taken many awards at various European koi shows. The BKKS awarded a Friendship Trophy at the Belgium Koi Show  held on 22nd & 23rd April 2023 The Koi was choses by Allan Tait and the trophy was presented at the prize giving by Stefan Malm. All change at the top

After 29 years of combined service Gary Pritchard stood down as the JSC Chairman at the 2022 AGM. His place is taken by Allan Tait who was elected unanimously at the same meeting. Gary joined the BKKS in 1979 and followed that by joining the MSB Section where he was a founder member and eventually Chairman 1990-96. Gary honed his koi show skills at their annual shows. Louis Vanreusel R.I.P.

Monday 15th April 2019 a sad day. At 15:00 CET our dear friend Louis Vanreusel passed away. He’d undergone heart surgery 11 days earlier and then suffered a stroke 3 days later. He leaves behind his wife Josee, two sons and grandchildren. Louis was a former customs officer in Antwerp and an author of the first Koi book in Flemish “Nishikigoi een waaier van kleuren” Louis was unique. Most people know that the Grand Champion of the 50th Anniversary Shinkokai Show 2019 was a the Kohaku called S Legend that was purchased for a Chinese customer at the Sakai auction for £1.4million.  The agent that facilitated his purchase was a young lady called Ying Ying Chung MD of the Sing Chang koi farm in Taiwan.
