At the 2026 Belgian Koi Show (18/19th April) our invited judging team of Carol McCall, Gary Hazely, Gary Pritchard and Tony Sheffield selected this size 5 Goshiki-Showa as the recipient of our first Friendship Trophy given under our new name Koi Judges UK Organisation.

The koi, exhibited by owner Kevin Langendries was first purchased in 2022 at nisai and was a long way from the koi it has become today see right.

The photo above shows the koi as it was in 2025. To see the koi as it is today go to our Facebook Page – Koi Judges UK where a video can be found of it in all its glory.

When we chose a koi for this award we select by how it looks today, but when we learn something of their background that like this demonstrates the skill and vision of the owner over a period of years it reminds us of what Koi Keeping is all about.
